Doughnuts/Personalities

This one happened today. But, since it is now the past, and I was thinking about it, it totally counts.

So Cathy Lewis is a local public radio/tv fixture, and like me, walks slightly bent at the waist. She, however, walks with purpose, as I sort of sulk around. The pretentious term is 'saunter' of which I also partake. But the point of all of this is how we arranged the halving of a doughnut, (I got to pick the doughnut.) So there I was in the canteen of the station's building peering into a donated box of Dunkin Donuts. I really didn't want one, but I did want a taste, so I stood there contemplating on how I would separate a piece without touching it with my hands. As I hovered over the fried gooey goods a small crowd began to gather and goaded me along. "Go ahead, pick one."

The pressure mounts. I still hadn't solved the transfer of germs scenario. This is when Cathy strolls in and takes command of the situation. Did I mention that she hosts a radio show and a television show? So she joins in with the mob and prods me along too "Go ahead, pick one." I meekly respond, "Yeah, but I don't want a whole one." Right on beat, she goes, "Let's split one, which one shall we have." My instinct was plain, but because Cathy, not being a tiny lady, I last-minute-audibled for the powdered sugar. She said "Great" grabbed a plastic knife from a nearby tray that was sticking out of vat of butter, (for bagels) wiped it off, sliced the doughnut, gave me the half she did not touch, mentioned how it all worked out perfectly and off she scuttled. Off I sauntered.

Broken/Memory

Broken: Rule. This is not a post about a random memory; sort of. It instigated a memory, but the original intent was of a question. The Question: How much of "Memory" forges one's "Identity?" This reminded me of a possible Grad project i wanted to explore, of course, currently i am not enrolled in any grad course, and also not sure if i want to be...

But i am intrigued by the question and the whole concept of "Memory," and what is it exactly that we carry around in our heads. Some folks say that we are our actions. Some folks say that the person you were is not the same person today. I still carry memories of my childhood. Do those belong to a different person?

Sometimes, I hope so...

Girls/War

It was a trip south, must have been circa 2001 cuz i remember we were heading to an anti-war rally. J, W, a name I cannot recall, and I, stopped to stay with ?'s old friends at an all girls college. I believe we were in North Carolina. Anyway, J and I felt slightly off the entire time and I got a massive headache. But here are the two scenes I remember the best. One was being invited to get high with the girls in their suite, but getting sick and going back to sleep on the couch. The other was of another girl who lived in the dorm, who i guess was a bit of an outsider. She struck up a conversation with me that was basically geared towards her wanting me to want to have sex with her. I remember her hinting about how she was into casual sex and could sleep with someone and it not be a big deal at all if they did not keep in touch. For one I was not feeling well, and also, she was not very attractive. Not ugly, just sort of plain. So I didn't make the "best" of the opportunity. I was also shy and not into one-night stands. There were other glimpses of that day, too, like ? running off to smoke opium and not telling anyone, and J and I walking around wondering why we felts so woozy in the town. I wish I could remember more of that night, but that's about it. The protest ended up being a joke, just a few of us, and we drove about six hours to get there. 'Twas a strange trip indeed...

Oh, and the war still happened...

Tilted/Slanted

This one time S told me about how people are led around by the parts of the body that have the most influence on them. (Quit snickering, I know what you're thinking. Penis.)Thus, this is why K has such good posture and a  big round belly. He likes food. He really likes food. But not in an obscene manner, he has an intellectual appetite. And he's in to tacos.

Just now (April 1st, 2011 approx. 7:17pm) I saw someone walk by who was tilted forward at the waist, just like how i walk; a forever shoe gazer. Once S had told me this, I realized (read 'hope') that that would explain me, cuz I'm such a thinkerer. Thus, always slightly tilted at twelve 'o' clock. BTW, I miss you guys.

First

So, every now and again, for no discernible reason, a random memory will pop up in my head. I have decided to catch them and bottle them in blog form. This is the result...
